● CRITICAL
Panic button activated on Zone 4, Factory Floor B — VAD fires full-screen red alert to all connected displays within 12ms.
CHAPTER 01 · CRITICAL

Panic Button Pressed

A worker on the factory floor presses the hardwired panic button. In under 12ms, VAD receives the I/O signal from the Moxa controller and pushes a full-screen red critical alert to every display in the building.

1
Physical trigger
Hardwired panic button sends signal to Moxa I/O controller on the network.
2
VAD detects the signal
VAD polls the Moxa IP address continuously. The state change is caught within one polling cycle — under 12ms.
3
Full-screen alert fires
Every connected display — offices, hallways, control rooms — switches to a solid red critical screen. Impossible to miss.
4
SMS escalation
If no one acknowledges within your configured window, VAD auto-sends SMS to your emergency contacts.
CHAPTER 02 · WARNING

Fire Exit Door Opened

A fire exit door is pushed open — whether by a person evacuating or an unauthorised entry. The door sensor triggers immediately. VAD displays a full-screen orange warning on all zone displays, with the specific door and location clearly labelled.

1
Door contact opens
Magnetic door contact sensor breaks circuit when the fire exit is pushed open, sending a signal via Moxa I/O.
2
Zone alert fires
VAD identifies the door zone and pushes a warning-level alert — orange, labelled with the exact exit location.
3
Camera stream available
If a camera is linked to that zone, staff can instantly view the live feed from the VAD display — no switching apps.
4
Acknowledge & log
Security or management acknowledges the alert. The event is timestamped and logged to the audit trail.
CHAPTER 03 · RESOLVED

All Clear Confirmed

Both events have been acknowledged and the triggers reset. VAD returns all displays to a calm, green all-clear state — giving the whole facility a single, visible confirmation that the situation is under control.

1
Acknowledgment received
Authorised staff tap acknowledge on any VAD display. The alert is marked as handled with a timestamp.
2
Triggers reset
Physical inputs return to normal state — panic button released, door closed. VAD detects the reset automatically.
3
All Clear displayed
Every screen transitions to a green all-clear. The whole facility can see at a glance that everything is resolved.
4
Full audit trail
The complete sequence — trigger, alert, acknowledgment, reset — is stored with timestamps for compliance reporting.

Everything a Duress System
Should Do — Nothing It Shouldn't

Live Floorplan Display

Load your own building floorplan image. Device icons sit directly on the map — draggable when unlocked, colour-coded by status. Know exactly where an alert is firing without reading a label.

Latched Alarms

Alarms don't auto-reset. Once triggered, an alert stays active until the input returns to normal AND a staff member presses Reset. No alert disappears without someone acknowledging it.

SMS Alerts to 5 Contacts

When an alarm fires, VAD sends an SMS via your configured gateway — API URL, API key, sender ID, all configurable. Up to 5 named contacts per site. Includes a built-in test SMS feature.

Flexible Input Sources

Connect via Modbus TCP (Moxa ioLogik), REST polling, or direct Android GPIO. VAD continuously monitors input state and triggers instantly when a signal goes active — duress buttons, door contacts, relays.

Fully Offline — No Cloud

VAD runs entirely on-device. No internet dependency, no subscription calls home, no outage risk. Licensing is offline too — tied to the Android device ID with a hashed key. Ideal for secure environments.

Full Settings System

Password-protected settings with dedicated tabs for Devices, Floorplan, IP/Connectivity, SMS, Password, Licensing, and About. Configure everything on-device without a backend or admin portal.

Input Goes Active.
Alarm Fires. Staff Respond.

01

Connect Your Input Source

Point VAD at a Moxa ioLogik via Modbus TCP, a REST endpoint, or wire directly to Android GPIO. Enter the IP address in the IP settings tab — that's the entire setup.

02

Configure Devices on the Floorplan

Upload your building floorplan, drop device icons onto the map, name each one, set display size, and optionally enable camera links and per-device SMS alerts.

03

Input Triggers — Alarm Fires

VAD continuously polls the input state. The instant a duress button is pressed or a door contact breaks, the tablet screams — full-screen colour alert, audio alarm, floorplan icon changes state.

04

Reset Requires Human Action

Alarms are latched. They won't clear until the input resets AND someone presses the Reset button on screen. No silent auto-clears. Every event is logged with a timestamp.

Schools & Education

Staff Duress & Lockdown Alerts

A teacher presses a duress button — every VAD tablet in the building fires instantly. Office staff see exactly which room on the floorplan. No expensive proprietary panel required. Just an Android tablet and a Moxa controller.

Commercial Buildings

Reception & Security Points

Panic buttons at reception desks, door contacts on restricted entry points, and relay triggers from existing security systems — all visualised on a live floorplan display at the security station.

Healthcare & Aged Care

Nurse Call & Resident Safety

Resident duress pendants, bathroom pull-cords, and door sensors feeding into a VAD display at the nurses station. Visual + audio alert with floorplan location. SMS to on-call staff if no one responds.

Industrial & Warehousing

Emergency Stop & Access Monitoring

Emergency stop buttons, fire exit door contacts, and plant safety relays monitored 24/7 on a kiosk-mode tablet. Latched alarms mean nothing gets missed — even on a night shift with skeleton crew.
